Fifteen years working in news has brought Jonathan de Santos from the Senate of the Philippines to villages at risk of flooding from a dam project for water for Metro Manila.
In between, he has written about displacement, landlessness, food security, conflict, indigenous peoples' issues, and misinformation and disinformation.
He has since learned that the bigger story is usually away from the centers of power and is often told by those whose voices are least often heard.
He is currently a deputy editor for ABS-CBN News in Manila after 7 years at Philstar Global Corp. (Philstar.com), where he supervised daily coverage and special reports of the news section.
Recent reporting has included disinformation, labor issues, dissent, and shrinking democratic space.
